In this entertaining and nostalgic memoir, Sylvia Olliver recalls her childhood during the Second World War and the years that followed, recalling the many changes which took place in her home town of Bognor Regis and the neighbouring city of Chichester during that time.

Born in Bognor Regis, Sylvia Olliver lived in the town all her life (except for a short period during the war when she was evacuated to Yorkshire) and was a well-known local figure. She was a councillor for Bersted  Parish Council , Bognor Town Council and Arun District Council over the years. She was Mayor of Bognor three times and Deputy Mayor three times.
