Married in 1961, David and Eileen Sullivan recently celebrated their Golden Wedding and in this enjoyable sequel to The Sheep’s in the Meadow... Hopefully! Eileen continues the story of their eventful married life.
For the past 42 years, Dave and Eileen have lived either in or near the village of Hurstbourne Tarrant in rural Hampshire and for most of that time Dave has been involved with sheep farming in one way or another ~ as a manager for other farmers or working for himself.
Not surprisingly, sheep feature in many of the stories but there is much else besides as we follow Dave and Eileen’s progress through the years and learn how they dealt with the various problems and setbacks that inevitably occur in the course of a lifetime.
We also learn of their voluntary work in the local community, particularly with young people via the flourishing Children’s Club with which they have both been involved for many years.
In his ‘spare’ time Dave has been a School Governor, Parish Council Chairman, Delegate to the British Wool Marketing Board and Hampshire Sheep Group Chairman ~ but his main love is helping to pastor at a local Gospel Hall. Over the years Dave has also mentored many young people seeking help and advice regarding a career in agriculture and is always pleased when they visit.
Anyone with an interest in farming, the countryside and rural life is sure to find much to enjoy in this continuing story of Dave and Eileen’s long and happy life together.
