In this entertaining memoir Peter Bunnett looks back on his experiences in the Royal Air Force (RAF) during the years 1967-1972. After undergoing basic training at RAF Swinderby he progressed to RAF St Athan in Wales for training in engine and airframe mechanics. On passing his exams he was posted the RAF Coltishall in Norfolk where he worked on the English Electric Lightning. A year later he was posted overseas to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus where he worked on the Avro Vulcan. His final posting was to RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, where he worked on the Armsrong Whitworth Argosy.
He shares many memories of life in the RAF during the Cold War years and many interesting details about the now historic aircraft on which he worked.
Anyone who served in the RAF at the time or those with an interest in aviation history will find plenty to entertain them in this enjoyable walk down Memory Lane.
